What is Antiracist Giving?

If you’re like most people in the United States your past giving has probably most often looked like directly helping someone in need that you know or giving to a 501c(3) non-profit corporation. These are often wonderful ways to give. This giving can meet needs in your own community very neatly. You, your friends and family often are the beneficiaries of this giving. There are other wonderful and important ways of giving as well.

When the value of being antiracist in our giving is a priority we expand our awareness that most of us have falsely and unnecessarily limited the impact of our giving in the past. A few examples of giving that is fundamentally antiracist:

Giving mutual aid –

Giving to BIPOC led organizations –

Giving to organizations that are not yet or might never become 501c(3)s –

Giving greater amounts of money –

Giving directly to people in need –

Giving to communities with less wealth than your own –

Giving today rather than in the future –

Giving unrestricted funds –

Giving consistently throughout the year and over years –

Give yourself permission to be antiracist in your giving and make an antiracist giving plan –
